Church and the Internet

Paul the Apostle used to writing letters - today he would probably send emails, for example a newsletter to the Corinthians.  This thought is not as absurd as one might think at first, Paul the Apostle was open for new things. After all, it was he who spread a completely new faith into the world.

The modern church of today has to be open as well, if it wants to spread its message. The project "Vernetzte Kirche" of the Evangelic-Lutheran Church of Bavaria has set their goal to clear the way for people and institutions who are employed by the church to access the internet. We also want to support them using it in an appropriate way.

The internet turned out to be a very efective means of communication. It can no longer be excluded from people`s everyday life. It´s fast, low priced and mobile - it is also the only mass medium which allows communication in all directions: between provider and user, and among the users themselves. Almost everyone can look for information and contribute his own thoughts on message boards, in blogs and in communities.

This form of equality is similar to the Christian view of men. Even the concept of a web community shows us that both the ideas of internet and parish are closely connected: People meet and exchange views. Is there anything more obvious than using the internet for church work?
